The plan had been successful...
The infiltrated agent had accomplished his mission.
Reedius was safely taken aboard after a bold rescue mission attempted by one single man...
But in the last attempt to flee, he was wounded while struggling to reach his vessel...
Fighting the pain, the agent navigated the Starship Deviant out of the Super Star Destroyer and activated the hyperdrive to reach a safe distance.
"Good" he thought, "I outran them all".
But the pain was persistent. He dropped his lightsaber and was unable to stop a blast directly to Reedius, the only option was to take the shot in his place.
There was Force Sensitive being aboard, he knew it. That is why it was so difficult to escape. This being had guessed all his moves. Still he accomplished his mission and murdered the Vice-Admiral Thrawn. What a day!
The Empire would reach the darkest corners to find him now.
He struggled to keep himself awake.
R7 the Astrodroid was following him across the ship while he dragged himself to the sick bay.
The medic droid was powered taking care of the fainted Reedius. With the weak strength left, he hit the droid to call his attenttion. The droid immediately started to diagnose his own condition. The news weren't the best.
-It seems the blast penetrated deep into the torso, cauterizing the inside and damaging the lower part of the abdomen. It is positive that you are not bleeding, but I cannot repair the tissue. We require more bacta.
-Do your best, droid. - The agent was whispering lying on the medic table.
-Yes Master.
-How is he? - The agent pointed out to Reedius.
-He will be alright. We need to focus on you, sir. Now!
R7 was expressionless as always, but still his beeping sounded more like moaning...
-R7, broadcast the message to my Master. My mission was successful. But tell him I perished in it's accomplishment.
The droid beeped a very sad tone. And left the sick bay.
The Medic droid was not repairing the tissue. There was no anesthesia. A runner ship isn't exactly a mobile hospital.
The droid suddenly stopped and his mechanical voice sounded like a thunder to the weak human laying down and almost faint.
-I have no more healing instruments, Master. I am only prepared to deal with minor wounds. We should attend to the nearest campaign hospital...
-The Empire is there... - the sick man raised from the table with a terrifying scream.
R7 had finished sending the message and appeared on the sick bay, just in time to hold his master right before he felt on the ship's floor.
The droid beeped some more.
Through the Force, his master understood what he said: "We're coming out of hyperspace, my master".
-Raise the shields, help me reach the pilot console.
Almost dragged by the little droid, the wounded man reached the scopes of the main bridge to find the planet he had aimed with his coordinates.
Mashala was an lifeless gaseous planet. Only a few knew it. Only a few knew were it was, only a few knew what it had underneath the methane clouds.
Suddenly several attack ships emerged from hyperspace behind them. They were followed.
The rush of adrenaline helped him reached the blaster cannons.
He reached the force and fired them with immense precision.
There were too many of them. Still the man gave a fierce fight.
Slowly the whole battle seemed to become faint. But it wasn't the ships or cannon. It was the man who was becoming too weak to continue is resistance.
Suddenly another cannon came to life destroying the remaining ships.
The man looked behind to see Reedius awake and firing the cannon.
One by one, the enemy ships were devastated. The Force was strong with that one.
But even though he was smiling, the wounded man couldn't help but fall from the cannon's chair.
Reedius raced to him.
-R7 initiate the landing protocol. Use this. - The wounded man reached out a datapad with some sort of a key.
The Ship began the atmosphere entrance at an exact course.
Neither R7 or Reedius knew what was going on.
The Deviant navigated blindly in a steady course while entering the harsh atmosphere.
Suddenly it came to a halt and slowly descended.
The scopes showed nothing but blue emptiness of the gaseous clouds.
For Reedius there was nothing else to do but trust this man, but he now had doubts.
-The Force guides us, my friend... - The wounded man found strength to smile to Reedius
The Blue nothing was now fading to a bright white fog, and there was something appearing in it, like phantoms.
A city...
-Mashala is a last resort for those who seek shelter. Right now the Empire is searching for me. I have nowhere else to go.
The ship was dropping slowly to what appeared to be a landing platform.
It gently touched down and powered off instantly.
The wounded master was slowly walking down the ramp with the aid of his droid as the ship rested silent.
The door opened to reveal breathable air.
Reedius looked around and found no welcoming party. But what he saw surpassed any surprise his electronic brain could ever predict.
As far as his eyes could see, there was a city in a white sky. It looked like a bubble of life underneath the harsh upper atmosphere of the dead planet.
-Those who built it, call it the "Impossible One". And it looks like it is. What a beauty... - The man's eyes suddenly portrayed a man with no pain, but joy.
R7 also emitted some beeps with quite the thrill. For the moment his electronic computers were overwhelmed with such beauty.
Suddenly a silhouette appeared in the corridor halls of the hangars. Monumental and gigantic, the small figure could not be distinguished, except for some flashes in between the huge pillars.
R7 beeped in alert. Reedius raised a blaster.
The wounded man stood still.
-I told you there was beauty here. But this is the only true beauty. -His voice was faint but still filled with happiness.
A beautiful woman was approaching. Her hair had brown curls flowing over the wind, her eyes where crying in happiness. They knew each other... so well...
-En Ghedi - She was screaming from the end of the colossal hall.
The man was now on his knees, as if struggling to stay up.
Reedius was still motionless just watching the whole scene.
And due to that, he never felt his rescuer faint beside him.
Reedius and the little droid reached him.
-Don't worry... I... -words were hard to come out, but didn't.
The woman approached and her happiness gave room to sheer terror, as she realized something was wrong.
She grabbed the fainted man's neck and kissed him.
-My love, what happened? Talk to me!
But the man was not moved by the kind voice.
She began screaming louder as she realized he was seriously ill.
Reedius felt hopeless and didn't know what to do.
It was then he noticed some more shadows appearing from the gigantic columns of the hall.
R7 opened the small door on his hull and raised a small ray gun. Reedius aimed his blaster.
The figures were approaching slowly. Reedius figured there wasn't much to do against such a number of attackers.
And these were no ordinary attackers. There were strong built, armoured and armed with small cylinders... Lightsabers!
None were ignited, none felt Reedius or the droid as a menace. None were a menace. Reedius felt something in the Force. He then stand down.
Two of the men reached down to pick up En Ghedi. The Woman was crying. A much older man came forth to hold her. He appeared to be royalty.
As they moved away, the whole group moved silently and swiftly afterwards towards the building.
Reedius and the small droid just stood there. Speechless and confused.
They watched the crowd leave the Hangar, and noticed one of the guards came back and was approaching them.
-I believe we are in debt to you.
-I am in debt with En Ghedi. He saved me. I just thought I could help him and...
-En Ghedi will be alright. Everybody that comes home is alright. Don't you think?
R7 beeped a question.
-En Ghedi is the Royal Price of Mashala. He trained us all in the arts of the Jedi. We are his servants and apprentices. We hoped for the day he returned. But not under these circumstances.
-What will happen to him now?
-You did a splendid work. We are invited to stay... if you wish... - That wasn't a direct answer to what Reedius asked.
-I need to know...
-Prince En Ghedi is a sovereign ruler. We hardly know what happened to him during these years he went away. I think it is time for him to rest from his errand.
Reedius looked to R7 and back to the man. The Force was strong here. He felt En Ghedi was safe. But he, on the other hand was not.
-I don't belong here. I am to become a Jedi. I would put this reign in danger if I was to stay.
-It is your decision that we will respect. We fear no menace, though.
-Your confidence on this shield is very strong
-No, what's strong with us... is the Force. We felt your strength in the force against those attackers. You are a strong man... Jedi.
-Not yet...
Reedius and R7 entered the ship. The Deviant would help him fulfill his objective to become a Jedi Master.
He needed to reach Tatooine to follow the rumor of one the last Jedi was hiding there. If it was true, then he would fulfill his destiny. If not he knew where to find his friend...
Reedius returned to meet the man.
-Tell En Ghedi I'm just borrowing the Deviant.
-It couldn't be otherwise. - The man smiled and walked away.

As the Deviant departed with his new Captain, new horizons were drawn, new hopes, new expectations.
Reedius felt this wasn't the last time he heard of the former "Jedi Slayer".
The man he had learned to respect. The man who had beaten Darkness within.
Someday they would meet again.
But it all was in the will of the Force.
