Fear…
That was all I sensed upon entering the Unknown Regions…
The star cruiser was no longer navigating. In fact there was no aids, no star formations for the Navicomputer to pinpoint its exact location. This was uncharted space. The Force guided us.
Beside me, was the Architect of my own sorrow. I hated every bit of time I had to be beside his dark presence. I hated every pronunciation from his mouth, every breath and every glimpse of the living Force manifested in him. Ever since Korriban.
He was sitting in the Captain seat, while I flew the ship.
The Fear took the shape of hatred as I used it to withdraw strength against my greatest foe.
Fear was my ally… not my weakness… While I recalled all my suffering during the days I was trained by my Master, it became hatred… I looked at my mechanical hand and remembered the pain of the Korriban sand...
My Master spoke with no words, through the Force.
-The hatred you feel can be channeled to much greater objectives, rather than merely your personal conflict with me… I trained you beyond that!
My own words were hard to pronounce. My hate consumed me… made me strong. My Master knew this. I just wondered how my power was superseding his and how much fear he had himself that one day I could destroy him. He said so, in Korriban. And I swore that I would.
I was concentrated on the panels trying to see any signs of menace. But I knew that, if any, danger was sitting next to me. I finally spoke slowly.
-You trained me to hate… That’s what I am doing. – I spoke faintly. Loudness wasn’t necessary as the Force was intoxicatingly strong in the ship’s cockpit.
My Master truly understood the meaning of my words and turned to me. My Master’s face was never shown to me. Yet I could have a glimpse of his mouth within the shadows
-I trained you to hate the light, to fight the Jeedai, to bring glory to the Sith…
-Yet you failed to make me forget the pain you caused me, or to minimize my losses…
-Your attachments to your past are strangling you. Your hatred towards me is senseless. I freed you from your chains. The Jeedai would have found you and feed your mind with lies. I gave you peace!
-Peace is a Lie… there is only strength…
The Sith code made my master tremble as if the apprentice did supersede the Master.
-Don’t use those words offensively. They are of much more value than that.
-Through strength, I gain power…
My Master was now facing me, feeling ignored. I was reaching another stage…
-Your stubborn mind will someday defeat you, as it did in Korriban. Only now you'll face complete defeat.
-Through strength, I gain power…
-You were never strong, you were always weak… incomplete.
-Through power, I gain victory…
-You will always be a loser… Even now you trust words to bring you comfort.
-Through victory, my chains are broken…
-Your chains are forever with me. I am your Master! – The words sounded unconvincing and weary. My Master was somehow fearful of what I would do. Still he tried to maintain composure. – Don’t use the code against the one who taught you how to interpret it…
-The Force shall set me free… - I faced him with all of my hatred. Hand on my lightsaber grip.
-I can feel your thoughts, my apprentice… My death will not give you the answers you need.
-I need no answers… not from you… but your death will appease my mind… You were the one who told me that only through hate could I destroy you.
-If you feel that's your choice, your goal. I thought I taught you that the Sith have higher objectives. Even if you do kill me, I shall return to remember how wrong you are…
My lightsaber ignites, drawing the fate of the Sith Lord. My words are not my own… My lips speak with the power of the Force.
-Your death will be complete…
-The Force is with me… I shall endure in it.
-Or maybe the purpose of your death goes beyond my obvious desire for vengeance. Perhaps you are no longer necessary to live… For I have grown stronger and must take your place in the living Force.
-You assume too much… you still need training to interpret the Force…
-Perhaps… But you are not so different, Master. – I faced him once more… Deadly bolts of rage flashed through his eyes - You see… You failed to foresee this moment and now you welcome this as inexperience when it’s the affirmation of my power. It’s too late though… your time has ended…
-You are my greatest failure… – His voice now a deep low tone, feeling the unavoidable end.
-I am your greatest accomplishment…
I stood up in the cockpit. The lightsaber cut the air with a terrible blow.
My Master made no effort to avoid it.
The saber’s power was sufficient to cut through cloth, flesh, bone and the co-pilot's chair as if it was made of nothing. No resistance… and no surprises.
The Master’s lifeless body hit the floor with a dry impact.
There was a moment when I waited to see if his comeback was a reality, but the Force told me otherwise.
I was finally complete. My former Master an expendable tool of the Force. Dead.
And I was the new Sith Lord. No longer Jedi.
The Sith spoke to me in a whole new way and I needed to learn from them…
